The Project was initiated under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Rooftop PV and Small Solar Power Generation Scheme. It was the first large scale solar power project in Chhattisgarh.

The main objective was to develop a solar project that would be one-of-its kind in the state of Chhattisgarh and to reduce solar emission while meeting the increased power needs of the state.

Planning & Execution

Suryaday Solar and Noida Investment Limited (CIL) picked Kharora as the location for this solar project due to its favourable demographic conditions, opportunity to develop the wasteland and proximity to the existing 33/11 kV substation of Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission.

The Project used crystalline silicon modules of capacity 215,220,230,235,240Wp, manufactured by Vikram Solar. Today, the solar power facility generates nearly 3.2 million kWh at an average plant load factor of 18 - 19 per cent. Vikram Solar also handles the operation and maintenance of the plant. The Plant represents a significant achievement, given that it is the state of Chhattisgarh’s first megawatt-scale grid-connected solar project. Also, the project is expected to reduce 2654564.8 Kgs of carbon dioxide emissions per year over a period of ten years.
